Draper, UT, April 4, 2000 - New
features of the Pinnacle Learning Manager™ (PLM), were released today,
broadening the scope of the industry's leading Learning Management System
(LMS) product. PLM is developed and offered by Learnframe™, formerly Pinnacle
Multimedia. Also today, April 4, 2000, Pinnacle Multimedia changed its
name to Learnframe to better reflect its core competency of providing
comprehensive e-Learning infrastructures to enterprises of all sizes.
PLM is the backbone of this new infrastructure.
Beyond its capability to automatically connect to more CBT titles than
any other LMS-11,000 titles from 60-plus vendors out-of-the-box, and it's
robust abilities to launch, track, score TBT, PLM now offers new features
in management, reporting, and Web functionality.
"This version of PLM is truly the customer's PLM," said Mike Memmott,
Sr., Chairman and CEO of Learnframe. "We've closely monitored customers'
needs and market trends, and have now added the features that fill the
voids in current LMS systems. Most importantly, it provides learners in
enterprises of all sizes a complete framework for building and managing
their own learning systems."
PLM 4.1, released to customers today, introduces a new management tool
- PLM Online Manager. Online Manager, a Web-based management tool, provides
managers\trainers with the ability to view and modify only data regarding
students assigned to them within the system. Managers are thus more directly
involved in helping their students meet career and certification goals.
Additionally, this feature enhances system security as it does not automatically
assign full system rights to every manager, giving them access to information
beyond their direct business scope.
PLM 4.1 Offers More Robust Features:
In addition, PLM 4.1 provides enhanced connectivity capabilities which
make it easier for an enterprise to integrate all training modules into
one management system, regardless of source or vendor. With PLM, data
from CBT, WBT, instructor-led, self-study, text, video, and more can be
integrated into one management tool. This offers unprecedented convenience
and savings in time and money. Other LMS tools are not designed to integrate
data from all training formats and multiple courseware vendors.
PLM 4.1 also allows administrators to manage larger sets of data, view
reports via the Web, and offers enhanced searching and sorting capabilities.
PLM 4.1 is the only LMS to offer the exclusive SmartUpdate and Disconnected
Courses features. SmartUpdate, upon launching a course, automatically
checks to insure that the proper plug-in, media player, etc. are loaded
for the course to execute properly. If the proper components are not loaded,
SmartUpdate will automatically update them. Disconnected Courses provides
students with the ability to download a course, take the course disconnected
from the LAN or Internet, complete the course, and then upload the tracking
information to PLM.
